Default Something I dont understand about RUB

Copied from the original Basic.cfg:

Quote:
[MEDALS_CREW]
DecreaseFatigueMax=0.1
IncreaseMoraleMin=0.1
RenownStep=500; RENOWN, u-boat badge
SunkInPatrol=5000; TONNAGE, front clasp
RenownStep2ndClass=20000; TONNAGE, IC 2nd
SunkInPatrol1stClass=30000; TONNAGE, IC 1st
SunkInPatrolGerman=40000; TONNAGE, GC
SunkInPatrolKnights=50000; TONNAGE, KC
HpStep=5
HpStep1stClass=10
Experience=1.25
StepForMorale=0
StepForFatigue=0
Copied from RUB1.44 basic.cfg (downloaded it yesterday):

Quote:
[MEDALS_CREW]
DecreaseFatigueMax=0.1
IncreaseMoraleMin=0.1
RenownStep=50; RENOWN, u-boat badge
SunkInPatrol=60000; TONNAGE, front clasp
RenownStep2ndClass=20000; TONNAGE, IC 2nd
SunkInPatrol1stClass=30000; TONNAGE, IC 1st
SunkInPatrolGerman=60000; TONNAGE, GC
SunkInPatrolKnights=80000; TONNAGE, KC
HpStep=5
HpStep1stClass=10
Experience=1.25
StepForMorale=0
StepForFatigue=0
I dont understand this line:
SunkInPatrol=60000; TONNAGE, front clasp

In the original it was 5000 so shouldn't it be 6000?

No. It should be 60,000.

The Front Clasp wasn't instituted until April 1944. I reckoned that by April '44 players may have got 60,000 renown. The standard game lets you have it in September 1939.

But that reminds me - I can perhaps adjust this in SH3 Commander so that it's really realistic.

I see just a problem with that setting, when you start a campaign on 43 or 44, you don't have a normal attribution for that medal (in fact, that medal will not be attributed at all most of the time). In my opinion i think too that adjusting it with SH3 Commander instead of RuB will avoid this issue.

Yeah. This setting was made before there was an SH3 Commander, and I haven't thought about it since.

Also, it wasn't a problem until recently, because the game wouldn't support start dates later than April 1943, so by the time you reached April 1944 you would have a pretty nice amount of renown - probably enough to get the badge. With the new 1944-45 starting dates (which RUb pioneered) it's now very possible to get to April 1944 without the chance to get the medal.

I believe it is based on tonnage sunk, not renoun. I just finished my first patrol in a new campaign w/o RUB and was awarded 11 of them. My renoun is not quite 2500 and my tonnage is 56714.

You're right. It's tonnage, not renown. Still, the idea was to make it hard to get it before 1944.
