Weather Report Possible?

I saw mention of this feature in another thread. When I'm submerged, my radio operator has an icon marked "Send Weather Report". Of course, I'm submerged, so it's greyed out, but when I surface, the icon's function changes to something else. I didn't think it did anything, but Avon Lady mentioned it as if it did do something.

So can you send weather reports? Do any mods make this possible?

Thanks. Reason being, I want to create some U534 missions, and since it spent a lot of time cruising south of Iceland as a weather boat, I'd kind of like to have the feature.
