#1 I have an issue, where trying to unstall silent hunter III,I get error 1361 can not read c:\windows\installer\silenthunter.msi.the file is not there to read .It trys to rollback the uninstall, then I get install fatal error 1603-see windows msi.chm or MSDN,I don't know what this means? Can I get a clean install to work with installing mods in this configuration If I reinstall silent hunter III from disc? question #2 when changing the enter key comand in comands_en.cfg,there appears to be a parallel file #313 in comands_de.cfg do I need to change both ? SH3 removed fine from add and remove programs, silent hunterIII will not uninstall.thoughts, help, and answers requested.thanks

Wow, sure sounds like you have a bit of a mess there.

I'd personaly try to delete all files that I can find pertaining to SHIII including those in your documents and settings folders and IF you have 1 run a REG cleaner before reinstalling.

The reason I say delete is that you mention that the Add Remove program worked and in there it says its unistalled. So now you may have some left over bits that may need to be deleted manualy.

Good luck.

You read me wrong, or I did not explain correctly, add & remove programs, will not complete the remove,ie.uninstall silent hunterIII I get error 1361. what I am asking is how do I get A clean install? If I can't uninstall in the first place.someone must have run on this stump before, with all the tech.modders out there. :hmm:

Do a search for all SH3 files\folders and delete what you find. Then clean the registry of all the SH3 entries. That should clean
everything from your drive for re-install...

Move all patches/Downloads into 1 created folder, then do a search. Delete every SH3 file/folder that is NOT in that folder you created.

I would try a Format of my Hard Drive if I were you and then reinstall everingthing back to factory settings. Then update windows, then install SHIII, then install patch 1.4b, and then whatever mods you want to use in the future use the JoneSoft mod enabler. Good Luck

I think reformatting is a little over kill at this point. What I would do is vreate a restore point, do a full back up of important files on the PC and put that on a CD Rom or a DVD. Hopefully you have XP Pro, if not then your gonna have to drag & drop what you want to backup.

Do a backup of your data, cuse if things go south (and they can) you wont loose anything.

Your gonna have to do what has been stated ubove in that your gonna have to clean your registry. I wouldnt recommend you do it with reg edit, I would see if there are any programs on the web that you can download. In fact look for a program called Uninstall Dummy, I think you can download it and try it on a limited basis, it worked once for me.

If your looking for cheap versions, see if you can download a registry mechanic or registry doctor and see if there is a crack for it on the net (http://www.astalavista.com/)...up to you.

I would try and use Uninstall Dummy first, if that fails then I would go with a registry cleaner, and remove everthing associated with SHIII. After that reboot, and if your box still works create another restore point, then try the resinstall.

Back up first though!!
