Default I love this game...

First patrol went off fantastically!

1939, first patrol of the war, I was sent to AM24. After getting there and putzing around for 24 hours like my orders specified, I set course for the northern edge of Ireland and set up a search pattern between Loch Ewe and Wales.

24 hours later I had sent 3 C2's and numerous coastal merchants to Davy Jones' locker, dodged 4 aerial attacks and 3 DDs responding to distress calls.

Satisfied with my work, and loaded with only 2 more torpedoes, I steamed home. Total tonnage for my first patrol was somewhere around 20K. AWESOME... I know I won't be able to be that audacious later in the campaign, but the first day sure was productive.

Are you telling us that you have not seen or attacked a convoy
yet? Then you are in for a surprise. If you pick your patrol spots
carefully, your tonnage will go up rather drastically. Try AM51/52
&53 and if you are south of Ireland, check out my hot spot of BF13.

If you want a really busy area try AM64, a whole bunch of convoys pass through a 30km-wide strait here

Patrol 2 went off without too much trouble this evening, with over 30k tons sitting at the bottom of the Channel. When I was through. That, of course, was more than 800NM from my target area, but I headed there first and covered my bases.

Saw my first convoy tonight. 2 C2s with 2 escort DDs, C-class. Put a lucky 4-torpedo spread into one C2 and the escort just past it, dropping both. Turned and ran parallel to the convoy as the remaining escort approached my old position. Aft torpedo nailed him right in the ammo-store apparently, since he lit up like the 4th of July. Surfaced, moved in and deck-gunned the lone C2 down... too fun. My girlfriend watched the whole thing, yelling and laughing with me as the aft torp took out that one C-class DD.

Loving this game -so- much...

U-54's crew now has over 10 kills to her name, and every one of its crew has the U-Boat clasp for his uniform. My officers are becoming well trained, though still easily fatigued. Several of my NCOs have risen to the occasion to specialize in their departments, and I even got to hand out two promotions when we docked.

I am currently 4th in the U-Boat Ace list, and if I keep this up, it will be climbing.

Multiple mods, the Harbor Life, SH3 World, Readable Dials, Improved Convoys, and Pascal's Smoke & Sky mods... oh, and the hollywood explosions to go with Pascal's smoke.

Loving it. Absolutely loving it.
