Default CTD help

I am currently facing a bit of a problem.

I cannot play SH-3 because everytime as I try to start the game :

Movie 1 loads
Movie 2 loads
Game loads

Half way it just crashes.

Reinstall doesn't seem to help.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Or how to fix this?

TIA

First, uninstall all mods and test again. If the CTDs stop, it's in the mods.

Nope no mods included.
All gone :\

Still the CTD.

I reinstalled the game a couple of times now.
100% fresh.

Still CTD.

did you also manually delete the silent hunter 3 directory after install? Also make sure theres no game dir under the documents and settingd dir..

Ive had similair problems, and it was solved after i manually deleted the leftovers, this may be wrong but trying it doesnt cost anything

i myself have had CTD's on every patrol since a week, i suspect the vismod but theres no proof and i cant live without it installed, investigating further..

Did you previously install the Display Resolution mod for SH3, to play SH3 in your screen's resolution rather than at 1024x768?

Also, what graphics chipset does your notebook have? You know notebooks aren't officially supported by the game? Are the drivers up to date?

Its an ATI Mobillity Radeon X700

I know I know.
ATI doesn't support its mobillity chips.

Its an older driver but there are no up to date one's.

I can try to force a desktop driver though but that will eat battery.
And since it is a energy efficient notebook its not really what I want.

Its an AMD Turion 64 MT 34, 512MB Radeon X700, and it lasts about five hours on a single battery.

You've checked with the notebook's manufacturer - not with ATI - for new drivers, right?

Not recommended.

Did SH3 previously work on this notebook or this is the first time you're trying?

I have checked many sites.
1st ATI, 2nd ACER 3rd google, 4th tweakers.net a Dutch hardware and software and everything computer related site.

Yes it does run fine on it.

However it looks like lady Jumbo has been sitting on my screen.
Everything looks squeezed.

Now I'm confused! What happened to the CTDs? Or is that on another computer?

Are you saying you have no CTD problem on the notebook and that your only problem is the display resolution? If so, simply search The Community Manual for "display resolution". Follow the instructions carefully.

It ran before but now it doesn't.

What did you change in the interim?

I didn't change anything that's exactly the problem.
Removing everything and installing it again doesn't works.

Very strange :/

I would download and run a utility that checks your RAM memory for errors.

I'm sure someone else here knows of a link.
