I'm just thinking...
Sometimes it could be nice to know exact position where you find something interesting. One very simple way to do this could be for example: Range from the western line of grid to your position in kms - Range from the northern line of grid to your postion / Grid Square. An example: 100-050/AN34 = 100 kms from west to east and 50 kms from north to south in the grid square AN34. I use this myself when collecting information (routes, types of shipping, contacts and so on...) and I have found it to be very useful. So, what do you think? |

Actually, the proper grid system would give you very precise positions... the only issue is implementing it.
For instance, if you can think up off the top of your head where BF15 would be located, you can just as easily imagine where BF1544 would be. That's the historical system. 4 digits would be given for exact positions. :hmm: |
