I just finished playing a Quick mission in my Kilo. Havent played in a month or so.
I am beginning to think that the autocrew TMA is too easy. I set the generator to hard ASW in gibraltar strait..... I killed two Hans..always seems to be those...real easy. They never heard me and I was able to get a good solution on one in a matter of minutes. ![]() All the souces I have read say that TMA can sometimes take hours to get a solution good enough to fire... Will it be more realistic if I do manual TMA? What do you guys think? thanks ![]() |

a han is a very noisey vessel i have no problems tracking them even at 15 knots from a range of 20 miles
as for TMA i bypass it and use my own methord which includes a ruler paper pencil and protractor thing hard to explain but it works

Yeh i think the general consensus is that Auto TMA is far too easy, and that the auto nail a contact far too quickly.
Your better off doing it manually |

cant get range just a simple bearing line and what course i got to fire it on but to get range the bigger the blip on my sonar the closer the contact

just finished a scenario where I was attemtpting to locate an Ohio with the Kilo. I found it with my conformal array narrowband.
I thought it was next to impossible to detect an Ohio... :hmm: I had him at 4 knots at 550ft.... Picked him up pretty easily. |

she is easy pickings at the moment but when she goes slower and deeper i might have a problem

mike_espo,
You should download the db editor and take a look at the mechanics of the game. What you refer to as "bugs" are simply values in a datafile. The ohio is listed as being noisier than the average SSN, this is because all stock DB values are tended towards catagorical averages rather than RL values in a lot of cases because SCS can't compromise their information about some things. Yes, we all can surmise that the Ohio class is one of the quietest subs in the world, but SCS coded it in the game as being a mid-late cold war SSBN, which tend to be noisier than modern SSNs, so there you have it, a loudish Ohio. If you want a quiet Ohio, then you can change the values, a single number in this case, and change it. A bug takes effort to fix. ![]()

Hey Luft: Im glad you chimed in. I was going to ask: if its possible to change values, won't that really screw up MP?
![]() I am kinda afraid to mess with the DB...Don't want to mess it up ![]() |

In short, YES!
The manual specificially warns against playing with the host setting to allow different host-client Database and Doctrine files. I think opponents need to be clear with each other whether they have modified their database and doctrine files and if their preference is to play with mods or with stock files.
