Okay... just exactly HOW in heck can I put an UMLAUT over letters in certain words. (double dot that often appears over certain letters in German text)
I don't know the key combination... but I know it's there.... :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: |

Do you mean in a post? It seems you have to cut-and-past them: äëü.

You can use the Character Map accessory in Windows to see all the characters and their codes.
For instance: Hold down the ALT key and type 0252 on the number pad and you get an umlauted u: ü ALT+0176 gets you a degree symbol: ° ALT+0233 is an e with the French accent ague: é I think the codes are pretty standard in most TrueType fonts in North America. I'm just not sure if these characters appear correctly to people in all other parts of the world.

If you have windows, you can just go to Control Panel, Regional options, and just "add other languages", set it to German, and it will add the "DE" option where it says "EN" on the taskbar. When you have it changed, the "ü" will be the '[' symbol on your keyboard. It can be capitalized as well as you get the full scope of German accents.

What do you need umlauts for?!?!?
Are you going to name your captain after an 80's heavy metal band? ![]() |

Thanks 1916 and all! I will also try that.
Rudewarrior.... you shall soon see! ![]() You know... I was in high school in the '80's. It might be cool to find some MP3 music from the German heavy metal band "Warlock" for the old sound files. ![]() ...Besides their lead singer was one HOT female. ...of course I imagine she's getting rather oldish now like me! ![]() |
