Default Just got my XXi sunk.. have no idea what killed me

so i go on patrol.. wack a convoy take out 4 ships, dive deep and slink away and head to my patrol area..

sidle up into my patrol area and stop and just sit with the snorkel up and all stopped.. and crank the TC up to 1024... about 5 seconds later... everybody dead "uboat destroyed from flooding"

i have no idea what killed me. my boat was totally undamaged.. and it never kicked out of TC.. just.... all dead.

Maybe a destoyer came up in your baffles and rammed you.

If you get rammed, you usually get the "U-Boat destroyed due collision" Or something like that.

Depending where you were at, probably a plane.

It can happen that you are rammed a way that you can still float. If you do not assign damage control teams your tin can gets flooded. Figuered that out due to many collisions with harbor traffic

Could you have drifted down, since you were all-stopped?

How was your hull strength?

1024 is very dangerous. I don't ever use more than 256 unless I know what's in the neighborhood.

If you were snorkeling you were definately killed by planes. The snorkel is a magnet for them. You should check out this thread and download Jungman's sensor pack:

http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopi...0248&start=100

I would also suggest changing the snorkel depth for the U-boats that use them. That is also covered in that thread.

I was not in what would be considered a high naval traffic area..

im starting to guess it was probably a plane with a lucky stick of bombs aswell.. but ****.. it should have at least kicked out of TC when i was being attacked.. i mean.. thats retarded..

and yea.. what up with the snorkel... is it half engine breathing device and half giant radar reflector with "sub under here" written on it with a sharpie..

well.. i CTRL+ALT+DELd back to desktop so i didnt lose my boat... but still.. that is wack.. I had about 14 kills that patrol 4 of which were T3 tankers (from the convoy)... i would be uber banking if that hadnt happened...

also the snrokel fix states that it only addresses the problems with the snorkel being super detectable VISUALLY... not by radar..

im pretty sure whatever killed me did so by radar because

A: i already have snorkel fix

B: it was at night and in a thunderstorm.... you couldent see a bugger hanging out of your own nose..

in retrospect, seeing a bugger handing from your own nose is quite difficult in even the ideal conditions unless you had a mirror... but they had mirrors in WW2 so i stick with my previous statment

often save, preferrably after each kill, before going in position, and after sailing a long distance.

I am a Dead is Dead guy, but ... the exception confirms the rule.
