Default MP4 Steel storm

hi all

This scenario is a naval battle beetween 2 fleets.
The NIMITZ and the KUZNETSOV are each one sourrounded by numerous friendly ships.

fleets are 1 hours away from first engagment.
They move at high speed : 25 knts head on head.
Beetween them, there is 2 SSN from both sides.
Each one is controllable.
As commander on one of this nukes, your job will be to help your side to inflict the maximum casulaties to the other side.
Objective n°1 is the ennemy carrier.
Copy the radio messages for update on ennemy ship sunk.

This scenario can be played solo on each plateform, or coop or match (side vs side).
Due to the very intense fight, the host need a good connection (in upload especially), and this mission couldn't be played with too much people (desync because of bandwith failure).
Nevertheless, at 2, things goes right.
In case of desync, the host just have to pause the game for some sec to resync, this could happen sometimes during the game, but doesn't prevent to have nice coop or match game (side vs side).

be aware, its a terrific battle (don't forget to look, at the replay).

- use the first hour to run toward the ennemy TF : if you stay at your position, you will be too far from the ennemy to help your Navy.
So move fast to a good interception point during the first hour, but be carefull not being detected by other SSN doing this !
You must stay in front of your own surface ships during all the battle if you really want to help them, or you will just be spectator.

- datalink is a very valuable tool, take links when your fleet can send them to you. You will have accurate links (enought to engage with them) when the fight will be well engaged, after ~1h15 of game.
refresh regularly datalink contacts, and always before engaging a target.

- passive torps are queen of sea battles like this :
with fast and loudy contact as those fleets, turn your torp seeker to passive and circle =>
reduce speed of ADCAP to 45 and to 65cm to 40
this way these torps will have HUGE detection capabilities on noisy contacts, and you could engage them from 50 kyds (they come toward you) with enabling the passive circle seeker at 30 kyds.
very high rate of success like this, you can even cut the wire as soon as the fish is on the water, to reload faster and reengage sooner.

- Use 2 ADCAP for russian warship and 4 for the KIROV and 6 for the KUZNETSOV.
and only one 65 cm for each US ship except the NIMITZ : 3 (or 4 I don't remember ... ennemy ships are often already damaged)

- Do not waste ASM missile at the beginning of the game, there is way to much SAM and you will lost them all, wait an isolated target or a close target (<10 miles) to take by surprise with 4 or 6 ASM.

- you will need air
remember to use the snorkel each time you go to PD, or you will probably miss compressed air some times.

- care ennemy nuke sub : they are near the only threat for you, and if they engage you you must answer back immediatly.
During the first hour, take a couple of minutes each 1/4 of hour to search for ennemy subs. If you detect one, engage him as soon as possible and send the link to your fleet.
Nothing worse than an ennemy sub engaging you when you are ready to engage yourself the ennemy fleet ...

enjoy, and win !

Thanks OKO.

Some welcome fleet activity - and you pulled it out of the hat at the eleventh hour. (20th )
