I'm sure that 'steering wheel' will give nice delicate inputs not like our digital inputs....Just like an aircraft ?

It would be great to have analogue control inputs for the subs. rock:

LOL - actually - "Diving and Driving" is one of the least favorite watches people stand - usually relegated to the most junior personnel... But I must admit - kinda fun for the first few times you do it...

A few years ago I taped a special on either Discovery, TLC or History Channel called 'Seawolf'. It was narrated by Luke Skywalker.. er.. Mark Hammil. It had several close up shots of Seawolf control panels, and BB sonar screens. The game is pretty close to the real thing, like the little sub icon in the depth indicator panel and the weapons activation matrix looked very similar. If I can find it, I'll get some screen shots and post em.

I've seen what looks like a big flat display at the sail bridge of a very recent german sub, which moves out when the sub surfaces and retracts back into a protective bay when diving. That makes me assume that their control room also looks much more modern than the seawolf.

If you follow this LINK
you will find the offical wesite of the Bundesmarine (it's in german). On the right side is a box which says "downloads". In it are two links to a short film about the new Type 212 class u-boat. Although it's in german, too, you can see the interior and displays quite well.

The interface isn't important, its all eye-candy so to speak.
The real deal are the active and passive sensors and I doubt that as of this moment there are submarines which top the seawolf.

Yeah 2 color screens :rotfl:
I must admit I hate the color orange gives me headaches, why don't they use green over black its more cool and more relaxing that way.
