Default Flotilla vs Base Locations

Hi All,

gonna start a new carrer this weekend.

I´d like to start in 1939 or 1940, and would like to play with the types VII & IX (deck gun freak )

Anyone knows if I can to that having Brest as a base ? Cause i once started a carrer bases in St. Nazarie, and my first mission was at night, i didnt even find my way out to the ocean and then abandoned it

Any Base / Flotilla that has it easy to manuver out cause i dont wanna have to waste 40 minutes of gameplay on every patrol

I'm in the 1st flotilla, out of Wilhelmshaven. I started in Type IIs in September 1939. It's now July 1940, and in mid-patrol, I got a radio message saying "The base has been changed to Brest". I'm sailing in a Type VIIc with the 88mm deckgun.

I should mention, that Brest doesn't appear marked on the map. This is a known bug. I know where it is though, it just doesn't show up by name right now. This probably means that my patrol zones will move from the North Sea to mid-Atlantic. Which suits me fine, since I've seen NOTHING but destroyers on this patrol. I even sunk one. But no merchant traffic at all. Only warships.

First thing to do is pick up the flotilla mod

http://www.beerymod.com/sh3_011.htm

This mod corrects flotilla locations and availability.

Next create your career ('39) and select Flotilla 2. The 2nd is located in wilhelmshaven. While in this flotilla you are given the option to pick up the IX in '40 if you have the 9k in renown. This flotilla will be transferred to Lorient I believe in September of '40 (I may be wrong on the date but not the port). Lorient is a pain to navigate out of, due to lack of time crompression (proximity to land).

I usually transfer to the 7th flotilla myself which is located in St. Nazaire and yes if you have a IXB in the 2nd and transfer to the 7th you do keep your IXB boat.

If you dislike too much early maneuvering, avoid Bergen!
What a SUPERB base! Lots of nice scenery!

Thats what i did in my first carrer. . . VIIC + Brest = very good
Save renown for good stuff that will come out like the radar coat and the improved sonar coating. I used the Wolfies Twek Mod so i didnt have to spend renown on acoustic torpedoes . . .
