Watch.
Man, it was my 3rd patrol. Captain and crew are still all a bit, "untested", I think is the right word. I was on my way to a 24 hr patrol in BE 29. Once I got close, my hydrophone operator informed me of a large convoy, traveling WSW. By direction of travel, it looked to be headed towards the US from the UK. I encountered this thing around 6:30pm in BE 61. Well, my hydrophone operator wasnt lying. I had at LEAST 10 contacts. The ones i IDENTIFIED were a T3, 2 T2's, 2 Coastal Merchants, 2 Flower Corvettes, a Clemson DD adn an Armed Trawler. Alltogether, there was at least 12 cargo ships, prolly at least another T3 along with the one I spotted. When i thought there was only one Flower corvette, I paralleled the convoy for a while, hoping to sink the corvette and have my way with the rest of them. However, he got wind of me and started a zig-zag course in my direction, almost as if he were triangulating me with hydrophones.... So I cut off and doubled back, only to spot the Clemson and the other Flower. At that poin, I gave up, ran from the 2nd Flower who managed to sniff me out, by diving to 70m at 3kts and going quiet untill he turned around and headed back to that monster convoy of his. I then continued to my patrol zone and had a very average, random, quiet, crappy patrol. I will say I brought all of my crew home safe. Maybe ill catch that convoy on its way back to the UK with full holds. Maybe take a snapshot spread of 4 eels at one of the T3's then haul sausage in the opposite direction. Bah! Otto Rotluchs |

Hello, new here as well. I had a large convoy of similar size. Managed to sink 8 of 13 then I ran out of fish.

Sometimes thats the way the keel breaks..... one question - how were you sitting on fuel? If you had plenty - an end around after shaking the escorts would have gotten you in position for a good attack.... Thats why you get the "Be More Aggressive" message sometimes. I think BDU has knowledge of where the ships are - just they dont always tell you - instead telling you to "BMA" because THEY can see whats out there...... ROFL!
Either way - good hunting. CC |
