Default "Return to base" key.Is there such a thing???

Is it possible to return to the base just by hitting a "return to base" key as we did in SH2 and SH3.

It is very "unconvinient" at least for me to travel again all the way back from Tokyo to Pearl even in TC.

I know it is not sim like but I would like it to be there just in case.

Since I have only tried the game in version 1.0 has this been fixed in 1.3 or is there any mod for it???

Thanks in advance!!!

No there is not such a thing, not yet ( return to base ). That being said, you really should patch up to 1.3 and try some of the great mods that are available.

SH4 is a great one

I sure would like to enjoy it.

The problem is my rig is too old and I merely get 20-25 fps even inside sub, long load times and of course everything in minimum.

Next month I will build a new one after so many years and I intent to get a "sick" leave from job to fully enjoy SH4 1.3 in the new system

If only there was a return key

Once you get the " new rig " this won't be an issue. I can TC at about 5000, with not much slow down, so returning to base is not a problem .

Yes I know.

With the old rig it was like hell.In TC I was in the map screen, the whole map was "frozen",it moved really slow.My nerves...

So I uninstalled it.

Even the SH3 with some mods was really slow from time to time.

A month to go....

The only reason I would ask for a "Return to base" cheat key would be to cover the 'hopless' situations where you get your rudders busted off, engines fried, or you managed to run out of fuel.

In those cases it is literally game over. You either have to wait for someone to come destroy you or quit the game and start from a previous save.

As Ive said before this game is not a good choice for brief gaming sessions.

I have been playing SH4 for a while with fewer radio contacts and NSM but I dont know aything about the bigger mods. What do they change and are they better than 1.3 with my mods?

Yes but sometimes is very annoying trying to get back to the port.

There is just no interest in trying to get back. You have sink whatever it was to be sunk, you are out of torps, your fuel almost exausted.

Personally I find it boring and getting tired trying to return home.I only did it once in SH3.Every 1 minute even in TC I had a new contact, and I had again to re-activate TC,and again, and again.

As it happened in the one and only mission I played in SH4 due to my old rig.

In SH1,SH2,SH3 I never rember returning to port.It was just useless for me.

Of course this is my own opinion.

Trigger Maru is a great one, it adjusts the AI and and has a bunch of other mods incorporated into it. Check out the thread, there is a nice read-me and FAQ with it. To be honest though, there are just to many great mods to describe, check out the updated list for 1.3 by Excalibur Bane, and go through the threads to find what they are about, etc.

Also, use JSGME to install them, on my sig. there is a link to a nice guide on how to install

Sometime try turning off your radio man, and your radar, no interruptions, and the trip home is much faster.
