Default GWX3 gameplay or install issue...

First off, thank you to all the folks who make these older games great again (no political pun intended...)! I started playing RS Rising many decades ago...it got this (now) old grunt hooked on this genre back in the day. Fast Attack, 688i, etc etc have all graced my hard drives through the years. Back then, we didn't have "mods" (or at least I didn't know about them). Nowadays, Dark Waters (Dot Mod) and (now) SH3 and a buggy SH5 occupy space on my HD.

Now to my issue. Installed a clean version of SH3 from Steam (Steam installed it into one of my Program Files). After a couple of frustrating hours, I realized GWX3 needed to be installed to the SH3 file (not the Ubisoft path in the install wizard). Got the program to boot. Now, it CTD when attempting to load a Single Mission or Career Patrol - no error codes. Oddly, it appears to run fine in the Naval Academy tutorials (looks fantastic too!).

Anyone have an idea how to fix the CTD? I've read the install/troubleshooting portion of the manual and do not believe it's a settings issue (malfunctions/sabotage setting is turned off)...but I'm not ruling an erroneous settings issue out. Considering trying another supermod, but would prefer GWX3 if I can get it to work...
