Sniper Elite 5?

Has anyone played the new Sniper Elite game? It came out in May 22. I am reading mixed reviews but it looks like a good game.

A lot of the comments are comparing it to SE4, which was a pretty good shooter!

I am not sure I want to add this to my Christmas list.

I've played it and think overall it's quite good. However some of the missions are more suited for medium range sniping (approx 300m max) to some where you'd be better off with an SMG or a shotgun then a rifle with a few where you can do proper long range shooting (up to 500m+). Each mission including the DLC missions have unlockable starting locations which can give the player a different advantage compared to starting at the default one. I have not however tried the Axis Invader mode nor Multiplayer so I can't give my opinion on those. Overall good graphics, a good range of weapons all of which can be customized at work benches in each mission, the story is a continuation of previous SE games to a degree including a mention of SE4 and 3 in the story line. The AI has gotten sort of better from previous titles but can still be downright stupid at times. If you're going to pick it I'd wait to see if it's part of the Steam sale for the holidays.

It is my understanding that in real life, the average distance for a sniper, in WWII, was about 300 meters so that sounds right.

I like a good sniper game and I've never quite taken to Sniper Elite. Could just be me. The games are well-liked.

Not to derail, but the sniper game I like best these days is the Ghost Warrior series. Not saying it's better than SE, but different for sure. There's nothing really here to blow you away, but each part is well executed and the sum is a fine tactical sniper game. Turn off the bullet cams and there's a lot of good, semi-realistic sniper action on hand.

The two Contracts games are good too. Well worth a look if you're in to sniper games on PC.

The first Ghost Recon games form 15?, 20? years ago. Heck, that was good in its day.
