So I have the Capt. Midnight/CBS NEWS Mod (the original and the update) activated through JSGME, but when I play channel 30 on the radio, it seems to be playing two different newscasts or Radio shows at the same time. Plays two at the same time even without the updated patch activated... Bit distracting...
Anyone else get this or have a way to fix? Thanks! |

Do you have any other radio mods installed, Qrex? The radio station mods do not overwrite each other, but rather "blend" together if there is a "conflicting" channel. You might also want to download and run Digital_Trucker's RadioStationManager V1.0 (RSM) mod. It can be a bit fiddly to install and run, since it was written for Windows XP, but it can be made to run acceptably in Win10, and I would assume by association, in Win11. It can help you sort all kinds of issues with Radio Stations, and it can help you in building your own. One of the radio station mods has a "date sequence" error, where an event occurs after the previous one, and that results in a CTD, which can be somewhat difficult to track down, unless you know what you are looking for, and the exact date & time of the occurrence. RSM will find that for you.

LOL! yeah, it's been a while since I have been on the forums or played modded sub games.
So I have fiddling around with the RSM utility, but am confused by it. It's activated but it doesn't do anything in the game. Should I uninstall all the Capt. Midnight programs first? Did anyone ever make a 'How To' video on Youtube or anything to show how the RSM program is supposed to work? |

As I recall, it does or did come with a read me .txt with it, that outlined how to use it. Think I may be fortunate to have the download I grabbed some time way back... will check & see... if I still do have that & did not lose it in the HD meltdown... that I suffered a couple of months back. ![]() M. Exactly Maddy - it is not a mod per se, but a utility that you load your radio mod files into.

Utilizing certain commands through it, it would look through the folder & cross check them for errors, repeats, & such... things that could cause issues with those files being played porperly & at the right time... in each of the 'radio' folders... after that, once that was done... then you could sync the whole radio to booting up with the right date/time stamp as your game save/s... accordingly with the SH4 mod set folder you had it dropped into.
I had it added to each of the modded copies of SH4 that I had set up.... each with its own RSM utility. To avoid any cross-contamination issues. ![]() M. M. p.s. Taking a bit longer, thanks to Win doing some such with the files explorer... Ugh...

It might be that you have two stations on close frequencies. When changing stations, the radio will start playing stations when you get close to the frequency so that it fades in/out.
So, if you have two stations on nearby frequencies, when you tune one in, it will play both. I found that having the frequencies about 10 apart seems to keep them distinct. You can check in game by tuning up and down the stations and noting what frequency each one is set to, and if there is enough separation between them.

Sad day... the copy of RSM that I had... was a victim of that hard drive meltdown that I had...
![]() ![]() ![]() Ugh.... That what razark said... could, also be a possibility... Myself, I opened up the radio.ini I believe it's called... & on the very 1st station, I set it to 7 & each station after that... I added 17 to set each one after that. so, 2nd station would be coming in at 24... so on & so forth... Hopefully in describing that, I haven't lost you there... Qrex. ![]() ![]() Having each station set that spacing aprt on the dial... keeps them from bleed over &... has the added bene, of allowing that radio static to hiss, click & pop to its hearts content... just as radios would, waaaayyyyy back in the day. Shame on it being difficult to add in that hiss/crackle that records would make while they played... ahhh well... If you need it, can take & make a copy of My radio.ini & paste it here... yanno what... scrooge that, am gonna do just that... to have an example to go by : [GENERAL] RadioRealism=Yes StartCh=1 ;MusicVolumeOnNews takes values from 0.01 to 1 [CHANNEL] Name=Berlin Folder=Berlin Freq=7 Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:51.76,13.10:100000 MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01 [CHANNEL] Name=Hamburg Folder=Hamburg Freq=24 Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:53.30,9.59:100000 MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01 [CHANNEL] Name=Wien Folder=Wien Freq=41 Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:47.45,13.10:100000 MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01 [CHANNEL] Name=Paris Folder=Paris Freq=58 Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.1946: 47.45,5.12:100000 MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01 [CHANNEL] Name=BBC Folder=BBC Freq=75 Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.1946: 51.45,-0.12:100000 MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01 [CHANNEL] Name=Washington Folder=Washington Freq=92 Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:44.16,-35.10:100000 MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01 [CHANNEL] Name=CBS-NBC Folder=CBS-NBC Freq=109 Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:34.05,-118.22:100000 MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01 [CHANNEL] Name=Hollywood Folder=Hollywood Freq=126 Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:26.01,-80.09:100000 MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01 [CHANNEL] Name=Radio Honolulu Folder=Radio Honolulu Freq=143 Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:21.30,-157.85:100000 MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01 [CHANNEL] Name=Radio Tokyo Folder=Tokyo Freq=160 Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:35.80,139.80:100000 MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01 And... there ya go... 1 nicely minted example... But when I play the CBS news channel, I am still getting both musical programming/commercials and news broadcasts playing at the same time The RSM utility tool itself doesn't really make much sense to me, and it did not have any helpful documentation.... Thanks again, y'all |
