Default Tony Dow, Who Played Wally Cleaver on ‘Leave It to Beaver,’ Dies at 77

Man, only 77. I loved that guy, he always stood up for his little brother.

Quote:
Tony Dow was born in Hollywood and his mother was an early stunt woman and double for Clara Bow. He was a Junior Olympics diving champion, but didn’t have much showbiz experience when he tagged along with a friend and ended up auditioning for and winning the role of Wally. “Leave it to Beaver” began airing in 1957 and ran until 1963. The popular black-and-white sitcom, centered around the typical idealized family of the time, followed the adventures of mischievous young Beaver, his practical brother Wally, their devious friend Eddie Haskell, and their long-suffering but understanding parents played by Barbara Billingsley and Hugh Beaumont.

According to TMZ, actor Tony Dow, best known for his role as Wally Cleaver on the iconic television show "Leave It to Beaver," is still alive, despite a statement announcing his death from his management team earlier Tuesday.
TMZ reported that Dow's wife, Lauren, believed her husband was dead and told his manager, which led to the statement being posted to his official Facebook page. The post has since been deleted.

Dow, though, is under hospice care, and his son, Christopher, told Fox News that his father does not have much time left.
"This is a difficult time," Christopher Dow said. "Yes he is still alive but in his last hours. Under hospice care."

TMZ also reported earlier this year that Tony Dow had been diagnosed with cancer.
Beyond "Leave It to Beaver," Tony Dow also directed episodes of series like "Harry and the Hendersons," "Coach" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."

Leave it to Beaver was great. I had watched 3 black and white tv series reruns that were old when I saw them. Leave it to Beaver, Perry Mason with Raymond Burr and McHale's Navy with Ernest Borgnine and Tim Conway.

They are all gone now along with Tony Dow.

Rest in peace and thanks for all the great Tv and all the laughs and drama.
