Best platform?

Due to work commitments and being unable to get SH3 stable in Windows 10 and doubt Windows 11 will be any better have not been able to play SH3 for a long long time. Have upgraded my day to day desk top and now have a reasonable spec spare so was wondering what is the best platform to use to run SH3, XP or Windows 7? Have quite a few older games want to return to but SH3 takes priority. Any advice gratefully accepted.

Windows 8.1 works good for me.
