On 6 Sept, 1939 I actually spotted one of these outbound in AM 53. My question is, why is this in the game?
For giggles? The ships of the class were Titanic, Britannic and Olympic. Well we all know that DiCaprio sank Titanic; Britannic hit a mine in WW1 and sank and Olympic was scrapped in the mid 30's. So why is this in the game? |

They were historical and used during the war for passenger transport because of their very fast speed (no uboat could even hope to keep up) but not in convoys or very rarely. I just let it go by when I see one because I feel its a war crime to sink a massive liner like that unarmed with hundreds maybe thousands of innocent civilians on board.

2) You'd be surprised how many people made requests to add Titanic class. Apparently everyone wants to sink DiCaprio again. 3) It can still be used as generic "big ocean liner" - ships built in the same time as Olympic class liners were often still in service in WW2, so an old ship like them isn't totally unrealistic - if you treat it as generic ship not the specific class. |

3 big four-funnel liners were "alive" in early 1940, the ex-Kaiser Wilhelm II, the ex-Kronprinzessin Cecilie and the RMS Aquitania.
If you don't look at Titanic like Titanic itself, but more like a "four-funnel liners" class, it's not so wrong... BTW, to sink DiCaprio still a goal to reach for a lot of people, i say, who am i for judge them? ![]() Best regards, Vd

Some of you are missing the point. I know liners were used. You could fit whole divisions on some of them (sans most of their equipment)
My point was that these THREE in the class did not exist at the time. But maybe they are there to represent other 4 stackers as mentioned. (shrug) As a side note. I've been on the QM, MANY moons ago. It's docked in Los Angeles. A beautiful ship and worth the time and money to visit if you can. |
