Default British Wrestling in the 70s

Who else used to love this and who were your favourites? Here's a great tube compilation featuring the very funny Les Kellett

I remember it from the 80's and the 90's

My favorites were André the Giant and this huge who was called the Hulk.

Giant Haystacks/Martin Austin Ruane and Big Daddy/Shirley Crabtree were a couple of my favourites.

I did not know the British had wrestling like this. I did not watch much here in the USA but I do remember Junkyard Dog, Iron Sheik, Hulk, Rowdy Rodey Piper and Andre the Giant.

The guys who inspired me from the 50's were on Minneapolis tv: My favorite and an inspiration for my 7 years of high school and college wrestling... with 7 years more: locking heads and tackling in rugby, was ex-college wrestler Verne Gagne, The Crusher, Dick the Bruiser, Randy Savage, my favorite villain: Olympian Mad Dog Vachon, and last but not least, Jesse "the Body" Ventura... later one term governor of Minnesota!

Woe betide any of the "bad guys" who got tossed out of the ring: the incensed old women in the audience would batter him with their handbags

I forgot to mention the late, great Mick McManus earlier.

We had World Championship Wrestling in the '60s and '70s. Best show on tv.

Favourite wrestlers???......Skull Murphy, Brute Barnard, Killer Kowalski, The Mongolian Stomper, Abdullah the Butcher ( the head that feels no pain ). They all deserved a truckload of Oscars.

We watched a movie with Mickey Rourke called "The Wrestler" the other day, which was what set me thinking about this. A really great Indie movie it was, too
