"Hank Aaron was an American icon and one of Georgia's greatest legends. His life and career made history, and his influence was felt not only in the world of sports, but far beyond -- through his important work to advance civil rights and create a more equal, just society. The Atlanta Braves said in a release that Aaron died peacefully in his sleep.

He was the pinnacle of class and made the Braves into who they are.

Wow, this is a huge loss to baseball. Not only was Hank Aaron one of the best professional baseball players to ever play, he was an ambassador of the game as well. Hank paved the way for other black athletes to move into sports and was a true trail blazer. Quiet and soft spoken, he let his playing speak for him which in this case, was volumes.

His 755 home runs lasted until 2007 when it was broken by Barry Bonds.
