Default Patrol Grid Arabmeer

Haha,

THis is a first for me. Leaving Lorient and my patrol grid is Arabmeer, Or Arabian Sea I'm assuming.

So how i get there? Go through strait of gilbraltor? I watched Das Boot, didn't go well for them And even if I make it through, i gotta do the Suez Canal....

Orrrr go around cape of good hope. But I don't see any fueling stations on the map.

This gonna be a hoot

Around the Cape you go. Hope your sailing in a Type IX, you are going to need the extra fuel.

Paddling is not an option.

Good hunting,

Like Fubar says... hope you're in a type IX...

I know with SH4 (Op. Monsun Enhanced: Dark Waters, to be exact...), I got orders to go from Lorient, to the Bombay region, before making Penang the new base of operations. That was... hrmm... '43, July of the year.. as I recall. Orders were to get under weigh, & cruise about 7 or was that 12 knots, to make the fuel stretch... & I was in a Type IX-B at that.

NOT sure a Type VII-C or even a VII-C/41 would make that journey... of course... you could maybe & try to stretch its fuel tanks load, if you submerge & go 1st or 2nd setting on the speed telegraph.. I wanna say 1/3 or 2/3 but that'd be U.S fleetboat speak... not kriegsmarine speak. When you surface to recharge the batteries... maybe set for slow cruise speed at 1/3 ahead... allow for the batteries to recharge & once batteries are recharged... submerge & as they say... rinse & repeat. I believe, even with doing that... may end up stranded with no fuel... but... is only a guess...

Even going through the Med. it mmaaayyyy be possible, to refuel at Le Spezia.... maaaaybe... I dunno...

All in all, all I can say is...

Fair winds, smooth seas... & good luck... you'll need it.

is it not possible as in SH-V to refuel in Dakar while still under Vichy control till 1943. In the Churchill Express scenerio to sink five transports at Freetown and/or Capetown in a type VII, the refueling point is essential, both outbound and to return to French ports....such a refuel would be no problemo to a type IX boat with a Dakar refuel point.
