Can these be sent from the sub like in SH3? Like sending status (a useful way of keeping track of your score).

Yes, you can send contact reports and status reports.

If you mean sending a report when you have located a convoy and need help, yes you can but not many have seen help arriving.
I think it depends how far away you are from a friendly base for the help to arrive in time, but I've never seen or had any.

yes. use the left side button on the radio screen (F8).
be careful in the situations when you use this feature because if you do not have an active Objective, you may be given one which you may not be able to complete. for example, let's say you have been out on patrol near the Carolines for three weeks and you radio your status to base. you may receive orders to go and patrol the Marianas (or somewhere else) and you may not have sufficient fuel to achieve the objective and make it back to base.

i'm just saying be careful when you radio in your status.

F8 brings me to the sonar screen -- I couldnt figure out how to access the radio from this screen?

ok....clearly, we are using different Keyboard configs.
post your mod-set using JGSME-Tasks-Export Activated Mods-To Clipboard and the paste it here.

Click on the helm in the bottom right corner. The envelope sends a Status report, and the ship sends a Contact report (if a convoy is visible).

lol @ Marco.

Also got messages about convoys on map grids but no grids had any letters and numbers, I did find them by looking for the icons.

This is on WDAD with Med campaign mods by the way.
