Ending a patrol successfully

I am a newbie. I graduated from Naval Academy and went on an attack convoy mission. I was able to sink a couple ships, evade the escorts and sail home to Wilhelmshaven. I sailed into the slip, saw and heard the welcoming committee and stopped engines. Now what? How do I indicate mission accomplished and add to my career. All I could see to do was Abandon Mission or Not. If I abandon I don't get Career credit for the patrol. What am I to do to end the patrol successfully and get credit for it?

If you successfully completed the patrol directives & returned to the correct home base for your sub, you should see a dock command when you tap the Esc key... besides the abandon mission.. as I recall.

Would help to know just what you're running SH3 with...

Is it CCoM, GWX3 Gold, LSH3-2015, NYGM, WAC 5.0 or higher.. since I don't know what the version factor is on that, at the moment... or are you running SH3 in plain, jane vanilla mode...

There are a lot of different mega mod additions for SH3... so, again, it helps to know just how you're set up for playing SH3.

I am running the plain vanilla version of SH3 through Steam. When I arrive at Wilhelmshaven after a patrol and pull up near the dock, I hit Escape and get the response: Do you want to abandon your mission? Yes or No. Nothing about docking. I just abandon and all record of the patrol is gone.

It sounds like you are playing in a single mission, not a career.

IIRC, you cannot dock at port after having completed a single mission. You can only abandon the mission. Your record of the mission won't be kept in a career, I believe.

Hello chaps!

Im on my 24rd patrol.. and before this I was on my 23rd patrol On doing a 100% realism challenge.. except I do have external view and no map contact info off, so I have them.. I earned this deal by finding a lot of convoys that had C3 tankers or troop ships in them.. I went off the coast of africa down to grid GR.. every little large convoy I get I always.. I mean ALWAYS go and check it out, try to intercept it.. well this time since I have the Vando shipyard mod for sh3.. I spotted a convoy with a ton of large liners and a Noramidie ocean liner. And that baby is about 87000 tons.. and I sank her with 2 torpedos and I sank another ocean liner with 1 torpedo. And thats how I got this enormous deal. 41000+33000+87000= Greatness.

Ok, so you're running it stock or aka vanilla... still, if you are in career mode for it, you should upon arrival at your home port... i.e. in this case, Wilhelmshaven, you should be seeing a dock at option.

As the beast says, it sounds as though you either ran a single mission or naval academy, rather than a career... as those would be the only things in game, that would only give as an option to 'abandon' only.

If this is indeed the case, as I suspect.. then your having done it, when you abandon... is NOT going to get saved.. only running a career, as a Kaleun & completing patrols, will count toward it being saved into the log book.

I went into career mode and I was able to complete a patrol and return to Wilhelmshaven and dock. Thanks all for the help.
