I was not aware of this sinking, just the firing on the carrier.
Fear that this would happen if we take out or deny Iran's nuclear weapon program, but the real fear has yet to settle in that Iran would cease to excist if they did carry out their death threat to a USN CVN. ![]()

What admiral would become admiral if being capable of producing ideas like sending a carrier into a small limited water body like the inner Gulf during times of naval war...? No, it will not happen that the Iranians sink a carrier in a fashion like this ^ and in these water. And catching one with their tiny speedboats out on the ocean - that is somethign different, I doubt their marine is capable of it. Their best chance would be a happy day for one of their submarines, and chances for that I think are grim even if they have over thirty subs, two dozens of which are mini-subs. In case of war, the carriers would stay out of reach for the Irnaians, and approach Iranian territory only as close as needed to conduct air operations. Its the lgoical thing. "Deliver them blows, but stay out of their reach."
