SH II Cannot resume Campaign Summer 1941

It might just be me and my system but as the title explains I cannot resume the Summer of 1941 in the original campaign of the game.
I can delete the save of that mission and start again. I can replay earlier campaign missions. The game simply won't let me back into the 1941 campaign.
I am not fussed with doing a complete SHII reinstall, except I was running 3rd in the Kreigsmarine beauty contest. But if this is a known bug, I thought I could ask here for a solution.
Any (polite) suggestions?
