TWO load times?

Can someone explain what the bottleneck is here, what is going on that requires a 3 minute load time every time.
Is it the Steam version, or something with you play?


Running on a hard drive with 3.5 Gb's throughput on writes and even faster reads, anything else i throw at it loads in seconds.
Just want to understand... i am the curious sort, thanks.

Mostly it's the TWoS ship recognition manual or SOAN as it's called in configuration settings file. Disable SOAN and load times will be reduced significantly, the downside is you will be stuck with stock recognition manual.

Well how about that, disabling SOAN in Options File Editor gave me a load of seconds.
Ill have to look into SOAN more closely but at least now when im just trying to test something which requires a lot of relaoding i can disable that to reduce wait times.
