My late friend Rocky partly paid his way through college building slot car motors under the name "Professor Fate". Most of his adult life he served as an editor for various hobby magazines. At his viewing after he died his slot car friends and his free-flight airplane friends were surprised to find how many other friends he had in other hobbies - game design and plastic model building mostly.

I see absolutely no appeal in slot cars that travel so fast. Give me AFX before the G+ cars.

My particular favorite:

...and the one I always wanted but never got around to owning:

Hard to believe how fast they go. They even look fast in slow motion.

This was my thing at university years, and I dare say that I was very good at it. When I and a buddy of that time played this, it was serious sports.

Tables used to stand in bars and arcade and pool halls, even in university gyms/sport halls, but these days they are hard to find. Haven'T seen one since ten, fifteen years.

That I did also épée fencing a bit, swords fighting, budo and Eskrima a lot, and lots of martial arts, and that I was light in weight, helped a lot in being speedy.

Those were good days. Today I must fight my weight, though I do successfully (lost 13 kg in 6 months). Getting old is not funny. What I want to eat is not recommended to eat, and what is recommended to eat I do not want to eat. The only solution obviously is to eat what I want and not to listen.
