Operation Weserubung: Er...did I do a bad thing?

OK - so I was on the Northern Approaches when BdU starts screaming their fool heads off on the radio to get all available boats to the coast of Norway.

Cool; that's how Operation Weserubung starts. But anyway, I'm looking for Brits; date is 02 April - 9 days until the invasion.

I catch a hydrophone contact and go racing after it - warship; moving at a moderate speed towards Norway.

Said warship turns out to be a U-type sub - perfect!
I'm in an ideal setup; he cruises by on the surface at 11 kts. I fire from 700m, broad daylight; impossible to miss. No flags - I have that installed for my sim; I assume it hold the same for other subs too...but at any rate he had no flag.

BOOM! One less U-Type.
Except...I didn't get the kill score.
I just looked on Wikipedia, and apparently Norway had two U-types.
Um...(wince).

Not having done so before, what are the effects when you sink a neutral ship? I'm not getting angry messages over the air, so how do I know?

Nothing historically inaccurate; this is the fate of one of those submarines

Lol thanks! Not that it would have made me feel any better.

Since I save game before any attack, once I got into a safe location off Trondheim, I saved again then loaded the attack and REALLY looked. It turned out to actually be a British sub; so I'm good - but I didn't get the kill for it.

Shrug - at least I don't have the thing dogging my steps.

Hi Captain Hammered

I am new to Silent Hunter 5 and I too have been having trouble with not being credited for sinking British submarine kills. It plays a big part in the Mediterranean campaign that I am currently playing and is terribly confusing.
Please post here if/when you get any answers to this problem.
