[REL] Haramirs Escorts Self Awareness Mod 1.1
This Mod makes Escorts much more aggresiv and Convoy attacks much more harder then in Stock SH5. This has been archivied by adding some more realistic strategies and adding a new status model for escorts. For more information read the 'readme' or the information below. This Mod doesnt include any modded sensor settings. I recommend to use a sensor mod additionaly like Ducimus 'RUB_AI_Sensor_Tweaks' or my 'Haramirs Sensor Mod V1.1' wich you can find here http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=165675. THis Mod is a Script Mod. Scripts can have several side effects in the gameplay and can have logical errors. So be aware and do at least a copy of the Original Folder regarding to this Mod. For this Mod this is ...SH5/data/scripts/ai or use the JSGME Mod Enabler. 1.1 Balancing issues for later war Convoys. During later war, the convoys will be heavily protected by escorts. Up to 35 and more escorts are placed in a circle around the whole Convoy. Gap between the Escorts is lower then 1000 meter. So with permanent Alert State they allways detect me, even if im in Silent Running Mode at Periscope depth with both engine off. -Added a new State for Escorts (StateCruiseEscort). Escort Sensors are reduced to 70% during Cruise State (if they dont are aware of you). 1.0 - Ship Operation Strategy Follow : Added a new Ship Strategy and syncronized with the existing ones wich cause the Escort to go for there contact with AK (full speed) above a Contact range of 800 Meters and Contact is submerged. While Contact is sufaced they already do that. But now they will continue AK when you crash dive or even when they detect you above 800 Range while you are submerged. It only works for 'Ship Operation Follow' and Escorts that have a weight > 1000 kg for now. For the lighter escorts i will add a similiar strategy in a next version. THere are more Strategies for escort groups wich need some more investigation, debuging and testing activities from my side. And yes, we have now the power to develop our own strategies. I see great, great Mods on the horizon belonging to the AI. - Ship State Model : Added a new State just for Escorts and syncronized with the existing ones. Now, all Escorts will use there Sensors with 100% effeciency belonging to their crew rating while they are on Cruise. InStock SH5 only Elite and Veteran Ships have this privilege, all other are restrictied to 50% during Cruise State. They will still have their normal crew rate restricition. In Stock this restriction were cutted once again in Cruise State. Maybe this leads to the poor Aggro Managment. This Mod is still Beta and have to be tested under several conditions. My Current test belonging to a small single mission with 2 VW Destroyer wich are escorting one freighter. In addition this Mod will be expanded. But that takes some time. Hope you enjoy it. ![]() When expanding your mod please don't doverdo it and keep in mind that the convoi escorts' main task was to bring the convoy to it's destination alive and not to go hunting U-Boats for hours. You know, I had a bad experience in SH3 GWX, where I was hunted for over 12 hours by 4 escort DDs, while the convoi was left completely unprotected. They should have driven me off or forced me to dive deep (and try to kill me for a SHORT time period), while calling in support (CAS / hunter killer group) and then resume protecting the convoi. This totally unrealistic experience actually made me uninstall GWX. But I'm sure you already knew this, so I'll just shut up. ![]() |

Gandalfi--Apologies for directing this query at you but you seen the best qualified to notice. Have you come across in your script delvings any Escort/DD script the effect of which would be to get an escort/DD to simply shadow a Uboat keeping station with it at 10 Kilometres at a speed of about 14 knots for very long distances but never approaching or attacking.
This has happened to me twice in the last week and several others report similar bizarre behaviour. It would be very helpful if this form of pointless Escort/DD behaviour could be terminated or better still modified to contain a credible point and purpose. The pointless and rediculous nature of this particular behaviour can be illustrated by the fact that because the escort doggedly keeps station with you and does nothing else ,you can eventually navigate close to land in such a way that the Escort will crash into the land and wreck . It would certainly contribute to game immersiveness and belief if this particular form of script (if that is what it is) could be eliminated/modified. My apologies again and thanks in advance for any insights you have on this. |

AK means "flank speed". It is a shortcut for the german command "Äußerste Kraft" => flank speed! |

Gandalfi this is a very interesting mod, and esential to game play, the current ai are dumbed down and their reactions are not realistic, im watching this thread, have downloaded your mod and checking it out, any improvement and realistic step forward is great, thanks for the work mate.

Once spotted, I mean once your sub enters the gray circle of a DD, It now V-lines for you.
It circles the last spot it saw you and then moves on to the place you should be at if you kept the heading you had when it saw you last. The one that saw me also called in back up from Dover. They kept me pinned for about 12 hours, almost making me come up for air. When I did finally have to come up, sonar shown that I was alone. I slowly came up from 70 meters, stopping at periscope depth just to make sure that I was alone. Well, I wasn't. One had stayed behind at full stop, just waiting for me. Being empty, and out of battery from maneuvers to avoid depth charges, I had to surface or suffocate. I died, in a glorious shoot out. This mod as is....is a keeper ! I say...the DD's now have a brain, and it is working very well. Thank you.
