Throughout the years I have seen several types of documentary about WWII, Hitler and the ideology Nazism
Right now there is a series on Viasat History calling Project Nazi it's a great documentary about this ideology Have missed some episode and missed half of it in some episode. It stand clear for me now Nazism had a much more impact on the German society than I ever thought they had In every aspect of the society they had a huge influence. From the little ones who became members of the Hitler Jugend to the eldest who may have become member of some Hitler-elder thing. To the culture and literature, In science and The justice Hitler and Nazism had also such an impact on the people that some removed the Icon of Jesus and replaced it with Hitler And they prayed to Hitler (seen and heard on another documentary about Hitler) Unser Führer geheiligt dein Name.... And so on Wonder if other ideology and leaders have had same impact on the society and the people. Markus |

Stalin certainly did; these people constructed a cult around themselves, willingly perpetuated by self-serving acolytes

While writing I was thinking about China and Mao Tse Tung.
Was wondering if he and the communist party had same influent on the Chinese people and the society like the Hitler and the nazi party had. I was not exactly sure, that's why I wrote "Wonder if other ideology and leaders have had same impact on the society and the people" And you gave me the answer They did. Both in China and in Soviet. Hitler was different to the Russian and Chenese leaders.....he led his country/people to almost total annihilation.

There are a number of examples in history on opposite side of the spectrum. The one's mentioned here who were reviled. An example might be the " little rocket man " of NK and his predecessors. Other leaders that served their respective countries in times of desperate need like Winston Churchill, George Washington or Abe Lincoln were revered and highly honored.
Military leaders like battle hardened Generals and Admirals and Captains were also held in high regard. Unfortunately, the tabloid news era has elevated deeply flawed people / celebrities to a lofty status in society. The only claim to fame these people have is bad behavior and endless examples of self indulgence. |

Indeed, loose the war and come out on top a few years later.
So get the EU to flatten the UK and we shall be back on top in 10 years. ![]()

Going to derail the topic a little and talk more about the German people living in Germany the days Hitler came forward
What many people seems to forget these days Is what situation Germany and the German people was in, when Hitler came forward in the end of the 20's. and when he became (forgot the English name for his title) Many German saw him as a savior. Furthermore Many German was against him and the ideology he stood for But they was afraid to speak open, so they just followed the others and raised their arms and yelled He.. Hitler. A German at a meeting, could not know if the person on his left was against Hitler or not and the person on the left could not know if the person on his right was against Hitler or not. Then there was those who stood up. While others truly loved him. The first part is more economic and the last part after Furthermore is more psychology Markus |

Its all about the cult of personality that leaders establish.
We've seen it with Hitler, Stalin, Mao, the Jong Il's and we're watching it happen now with Trump, Putin and Jinping. You can look throughout history and find powerful leaders who do whatever they can to attain power and then shape the country around what they value. The one thing I admire Stalin for is the way he transformed Russia from poor farming country at the end of WW1 into a world power by the end of WW2. I'm not saying I admire the brutality of how this happened, just his conviction that Russia could be something more than it was. |
