cannot seem to start missions at sea

after pouring over the faqs and key word searches, I've finally decided that the collective is my only hope for fixing this problem.

after a catastrophic computer crash (reformat and reinstall) I finally have SH3/ GWX and SH3 commander reinstalled and running. everything is going fine except I cannot start any mission at sea! not even the first mission.
I'm reluctant to do a reinstall of SH3 as it's from Amazon downloads and thats kind of a pain.

the game play is basically
1. start up SH3 cmdr and create (select) commander.
2. roll back (Don't recall where in the order this is done)
3. select career from the SH3 menu and start the mission.
4. the sub pen/Dock is always the starting point.

I've made sure that the start missions at sea box is checked.

I didn't normally start missions at sea but I'm getting tired of that jog and all the false sightings that mess with the time compression so this problem may have been around before and I just never caught it.
any thoughts or experiences with similar issues?

Hi Nagel

I have the Already patched version SH3 and Starforce Free on cd

Where does the Amazon SH3 Download Version install too does it have SH3 Folder

SH3 doesn't like being installed in program files x86
so when i installed SH3 and GWX3 heres how i did it
I made two folders in my Documents one called WOLFPACK the other WOLF HQ so they would be under each other in my documents
then i installed SH3 to the WOLFPACK folder then i ran SH3 to test Game and it also makes a SH3 folder in your Documents for your Campaign Carrer Saves
then i copy and paste all the GWX3 bin files and the Commander mod GWX Config File then i install the GWX files and run GWX to test its working and all is fine
I then install the Commander Mod in WOLF HQ and when it asked me where my SH3 is located i browsed and directed it to my documents WOLFPACK Folder
THIS NEXT BIT IS IMPORTANT YOU MUST INSTALL AND RUN THE COMMANDER MOD GWX3 CONFIG FILE LINK BELOW
OR YOUR SH3 GWX AND THE COMMANDER MOD WILL NOT COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER CORRECTLY
