Excellent pics mate. Great news on the pilot. Let's hope they can get the bird back in the air again

I'm always amazed at how they do that... something can be totalled yet they get it back into the air.

Aktung is right about trying to land in the grass. I'm glad the aircraft survived and more importantly, the pilot is doing OK. Congratulations to a skilled pilot in landing a crippled aircraft.

Members of the Quality Street Gang were in attendance but prior commitments prevented me.
Early indications are she'll be out of commission for two years now but Simon (pilot) did a great job in landing her. |

WELL ONE IS BACK IN THE AIR AT LEAST: The pilot walked away uninjured but the 1944 fighter - one of only three or four in the UK - was badly damaged.
It has taken three years and £350,000 to restore the plane and get it back in the air. IF I'D HAD TO FLY IN WWII, THIS, THE TYPHOON, TEMPEST, OR THE AMERICAN THUNDERBOLT WOULD HAVE BEEN MY TOP FIVE CHOICES http://www.bbc.com/news/av/uk-england-somerset-41287422/royal-navy-historic-plane-returns-to-somerset-three-years-after-crash-landing-at-a-show (the Mosquito would be the 5th) my favorite no nonsense version RAAF FB Mk VI ![]() ![]() ![]()

It's interesting to read the question posed here, HW3, as to whether these photos show two different crashes: in addition to the points raised by "Don1024", I noticed that in photo 1 it is clearly High Summer, yet those are winter trees in photo 2. Weird!

The second photo is from the BBC, same plane, but fairly sure it is a different incident due to the shape the wing tanks are in. They wouldn't look that good after a belly landing.
