Hey everybody, while i attacked an enemy task force today i had a flashback when we were taking part in big nato maneuvers and how noisy all asw-exercises were. i clearly remember how we sonaroperators could identify each ship just on their sonar impulses.
Then i got the idea that this would be a nice feature in the game. I dont know how the engine of Cold Waters works so i cant say if the soundfiles for the sonar ping a bound to each specific unit or just everywere the same. If not it would be very cool, when each unit would use a sonar impulse close to it reallife counterpart, so every goode hobby-skipper could say just on the ping what unit he is fighting. For an instance helicopters would use high sounding, very short cw impulses, big ships lage frigates would sometimes use mor complex modulations like cw-fm impulses, or sawtooth impulses. Sonar-bois would use short cw impulses as well and so on. that would make the game much more realistic.

I support this motion and call for the same capability for ESM. ESM and active sonar interception should provide the target classification. The only exceptions would be same radars/active sonars systems that are installed on different platforms, but I don't think CW should reflect that complexity.

Yes you'r right.
Good idea. Well at least you should be given a much shorter list of possible classifications if you get active sonar or esm.... So a bit downgraded ?
