is SH5 as good as SH3 with mods?

Hi

I have recently re installed SH3 playing the vanilla campaign and into my 2nd patrol. Great game I bought it when it first came out all those years ago! definitely the high point of the series However the graphics are very dated and Id love to have a SH3 realism and experience with modern graphics.

So my question is can SH5 be made as realistic and as good as SH3 with mods? if so what mods? and what is the deal with steam version and normal version? I heard steam is hard to mod? should I just try to find disk copy?

What are the main difference between SH5 and SH3? is SH5 really unrealistic and point and shoot arcade game or is it just bugged?
