Default SH5 Advice please

Good day all....been away from SH for years and about to get back in to SH5. Anyhow, to save me reading 100 pages of issues and reviews please:
Value i'm not worries about...its only $10 US

Is SH5 purchased via steam a good play?....from reviews it seems very buggy....have there been any bug/patch fixes and would they already come with the steam purchase or is there somewhere else i'd need to visit to download patches.
Also...do you need to be online to play?...or just online for initial log in to the game....or not online at all?

Thanks in advance.

Hi VR
While Steam is not a problem for SH3 and SH4 it is for SH5 and cannot be recommended.
SH5 needs an essential application called 'TDW's Generic File Patcher' which unfortunately Steam is not compatible with.
Other downloads and dvd are all compatible.
Bear in mind if you buy the dvd version of SH5 you actually own something.
Highly Recommended SH5 > The Wolves Of Steel Mega Mod > Includes > Optional KSDCommander And Working Enigma M4 Machine > Sub Flags

thanks berbster....buy the dvd eh?....that's sooo 20th century!....good advice though....I have 2 other games from steam and they pretty much grind my gears re having to be online which I see no good reason for after purchasing a game.
Anyhow.....suggestions on where to get the dvd?

Thanks

I own the steam version and after spending a couple hours got the mods and things installed which made it an amazing game with very few bugs.

Remember
Steam is not compatible with TDW's Generic File Patcher.
This is an essential application for SH5.
