Don't rock the boat this holiday season

With the holiday season upon us, many people are fortunate to have someone special in their lives to share the holidays with. Others are not so lucky. I consider myself fortunate most of the time, especially during the holiday season. On the other hand, I very much despise getting out ladders and hanging lights as the lights are always a tangled mess and don't light. Once again, This holiday season, I was asked to hang the lights at an inconvenient time and an argument with my lady ensued. I was in a hurry and did my best. Later, I wrote her an apology and off I went.








Hi sweetheart.

I am sorry about getting into an argument about putting up the Christmas lights. I guess that sometimes I feel like you are pushing me too hard when you want something. I realize that I was wrong and I am apologizing for being such a hard-headed guy. All I want is for you to be happy and be able to enjoy the holiday season. Nothing brightens the Christmas spirit like Christmas lights! I took the time to hang the lights for you today; and now I will be off to play some golf..


Again, I am very sorry for the way I acted yesterday. I'll be home late.


I returned home and my understanding better half was not at home but she left me a note which i found very thoughtful of her. What I found on the other hand was not quite so thoughtful.

Thank you for that heart-felt apology. I don't often get an apology from you, and I truly appreciate it. I, too, felt bad about the argument and wanted to apologize. I realize that I can sometimes be a little pushy. I will try to respect your feelings from now on. Thank you for taking the time to hang the Christmas lights for me. It really means a lot. Since you were so great about hanging the lights, I also washed one of your trucks for you. I can't wait till you come home and I can see your smiling face.

The background issues must be on your part since the lettering is black on a grey background and is very readable. The letter was both of us being our normal sweet if not sincere selves .

As for the lights, you assume I didn't check them before hanging them up. Like most people, I do check.

That would be nice. The peace and goodwill part, not the tying up although that's an innovative way to hang the lights. I doubt the lady will go for that as I'm already on Santa's " bad list " All the same, The best of the Holidays to you and yours.

I'm not going to rock the boat at all. My wife, daughter and grandson all want to go to Orlando Fl. for Christmas. I was totally against it but to keep peace I'll go and say nothing. The things you do for your loved ones.
