Exclamation Decks Awash Depth Setting

I was just experimenting while heading out to my new patrol area in the North Atlantic, with "Decks Awash" settings. First of all I discovered that the Decks Awash depth can be adjusted on the page activated by clicking the microphone icon, by rotating the mousewheel over the number. Changing it to 8 meters resulted in no bow spray and minimal wake when using best economy speed with only a loss of about a half a knot compared with running surfaced. Good for a quick escape if traveling through air patrol zones while running on the surface during daylight. You need to partially surface until the watch crew are on the conning tower then go to decks awash if you want extra eyes on the sky

Hi Kevin
What propulsion is running at that depth?
I assume in bad weather this could lead to constant switching between diesels and batteries?

I think that depends. In bad weather you can run both electric and diesel, or at least historically they coud.

But Kevin is right. Decks awash in the U-boat operations was often used when the weather was gloomy and the swells were high. Apart from that if the swells were way too high or in the case of a storm most U boats would dive and wait it out or continue submerged with only at times a periscope check.

The diesels are running...the Chief will even recharge the batteries.

Guys Are you talking about SH5? I'm Confused i'm looking for a mod that allows Decks awash but you're saying it's been in the game all this time all you have to do is Rotate your mouse wheel? I'm lost please elaborate?

Hi D
Kevin is relating to using the Speech Recognition mod.
This allows you to set the decks awash depth from 7.5 by scrolling the mouse wheel.
The only problem setting a deeper depth is in bad weather the propulsion will keep changing and the batteries will not be recharging.

As I recollect, when sneaking into Scapa for example, the bridge crew (unmodified) disappeared as well. Seven 's about it.

when you almost at the surface, you go to 10 knots, and the crew is there immediately, when you are at the surface.

You can permanently set the decks awash depth with the OFEV. I have mine set a 8 meters. When surfacing from any depth, you need to surface the boat until the watch crew appears and then select decks awash.

OFEV is the "Options File Editor Viewer" which can be found included in TWoS here: C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Applications\OptionsFileEditorViewer\Option sFileEditorViewer.exe. Tutorials on how to set up and use this application correctly can be found in THEBURBSTER's Tutorials.
