It's certainly putting out a lot of bad signals before the Olympics.
I do wonder if Daesh will make an effort to attack it though, I don't think they have much in the way of structure in South America, but it's still possible that it could be done, although they'd have to be careful how they organise it to avoid increasing the chatter level too much. ![]() Either which way, it's ominous...I mean, most of us in the UK had pretty low expectations of the 2012 Olympics and we expected an attack then, but despite the G4S screw-ups we had nowhere near as much trouble as Brazil is going through. Not good. |

Ruined historical sites and plundered museums ---> gold ---> melted down into makeshift untrecable ingots ---> find a crime lord (Brazil has enough for export) ---> get terror infrastructure for gold ---> attack
Crime lords have an underground infrastructure decades above what daesh would need. Crime needs an exit strategy, terror doesn't. If I can think of it and I'm a pacifist ![]() |

The UEFA Cup still running, French police have spoiled several terror attacks, there also were raids taking out terror cells in Belgium and Germany, related to the French event. Imagine these attacks to have targetted in Brazil.
But then, why even having the Olympics at Brazil, a place in utmost financial troubles? Those living at the lower end of the social ladder, once again got kicked and gotten rid of like garbage. Then, the Olympic committee and FIFA are criminal organisation and gangster cartels in themselves. Why these monumental amounts of tax money get wasted on these big events, is beyond me. If you think about it, even Western countries cannot afford these events. The promises regarding investments into infrastructure, before the event always reach into the heavens, but we know by now that the economic and financial bill in the end and years later, ALWAYS is negative. These events are always, always deficitary for the hosting country.

![]() The Olympics I followed and watched most intensely, ever, was Los Angeles 1984. Every day and night, as much as I could - and I could a lot: I was mostly alone, and it were holidays... The only time I ever followed, lived and breathed such an event on TV like a junky, and followed the statistics on medals and tables as if my life depended on it. It was a good time, and those years it were different times somehow anyway. When I think about a positive Olympics, I immediately think L.A. '84. And no other. Heck, even that damn soundtrack "Reach Out" still echoes in my ears... ![]() Today, it all has over-lived itself for me. Zero interest now: none, rien, nada, nix. Plus the corruption, if not to say: organised crime, in IOC (and FIFA)... And the big business show just kills it even more for me.
