Afternoon all,
I've recently taken on GWX3 and it seems to be working ok....except that I can't see English Nav Map & Grid Refs (although JGSME says it is enabled).Since I keep getting messages referring to grid refs, this is a bit frustrating. Please can someone point me in the right direction on this? Cheap pun intended ![]() Thanks PS I should perhaps clarify this; I'm getting messages with grid references in English, but my onboard chart doesn't show grid references, so I can't figure out where I'm supposed to be headed in order to pick up the target. Am I missing something here? Thanks again Last edited by topbowman; 06-28-16 at 02:06 PM. |

Are you saying it does not show say...
Am32 or Bf 51 and such? On the nav map?

Hi,
Sorry, I didn't put this correctly. An example of what I mean is going on now in my game. I've received an open frequency message from some dimwit merchant announcing his position to all and sundry as "50 degrees, 36 minutes North/15 degrees, 25 minutes West" or similar. How do I work out where that is on my nav chart? It only shows AM19, BE 33 or whatever. I understand the grid system, so I can sort out a reference from an other U-boat (e.g. BF3366) easily enough, but am I supposed to use the appropriate standard Admiralty chart to locate the degrees/minutes reference? Do-able, but those charts are very expensive to acquire.... Thanks |

Outstanding - thank you very much!
You don't happen to know the whereabouts of an inverted version (ie co-ords to grid)? If not, I'll have a crack on producing one |

Has someone made a mod to send true radio messages with long.lat. positions?
If not - the radio messages are only ear-candy. You won't find anything at the transmitted coordinates.

Aah - thank you for that. As it happens one of the signals containing a grid reference place the target somewhere in the Malvern Hills, so I was wondering what was going on

I believe there has been a misunderstanding here.
'GWX - English Nav Map & Grid Refs' converts the labels on the in-game chart from German to English, but only at certain zoom levels. It does not convert KM Grids to degrees. More important: Those radio messages you receive with locations in degrees? They aren't real! Well, actually they are real - real messages from World War II, designed to give flavor to the game and make it feel like you're not alone in the war. Any messages you get from the game will always be in KM Grid locations. [edit] I see that Mittelwaechter has already given the correct answer above.
