Default SH3 & GWX 'career' editor & other...

Overall, I believe GWX evolves SH3 into one of the most immersive simulation experiences ever. That said, is there a career editor compatible with GWX? I just wanted to know whether it would be possible to, say, create a 2nd flotilla career, 1939, and 'edit' yourself a Type IXB? I thought the more distant resulting patrol grid might make it interesting in the sense of allowing the war to 'start' on your first patrol - after all, it is not as thought the Type IXB wasn't in service at start of the war. Also, is there a GWX-compatible mod that would eliminate patrol delays when stopping away from your home port (i.e. just for refueling)? It is not as though refueling, by itself, took two or three weeks.

SH3 Commander does everything you ask for. I currently have a Type IX career out of Wilhelmshaven at the start of the war. I'm not sure about other ports, but when you stop at a milch kuh your time there is automatically one day.

Commander also has so many other great functions I'm surprised to find anyone who doesn't use it, and even more so to find someone who doesn't know about it.

Well...

Milch and Kuh are substantives in German, both to be written with capitalized initial lettters - as their combination "Milchkuh", being a substantive too.

In RL U-64 was the first Type IXB to go on operational service (April 1940).

I don't have GWX installed atm but IIRC, if you don't enable historical U-boat availability you can access the Type IXB in the 2nd Flotilla.

Sailor Steve at #2 has probably already answered your question adequately.

I'd ignore the background noise, most distractive and sadly, a common feature around these parts at times.

Thanks for the feedback - didn't realize that the Type IX was not 'already' in service, September 1939. After all, the IX was more directly based off the Type I than the VII was. GWX/SH3 commander seem to allow me the IX in October 1939, even with historical u-boat dates enabled. Just so no one thinks I'm hating the VII, I respect both boats...the IX is just more my style. The VII, with its more limited range, was more (and, as history suggests, overly) managed by the leadership. The IX was given more to commanders of proven ability but, more importantly, SENSE. Men who would exploit an opportunity, but not risk their boats foolhardily. Men with the demonstrated ability to act independently, and efficiently, in their own sphere of operations. All BdU expected in return was they text on their iPhones upon their return. The Type IX commander was of a more independent mind. A privateer, of sorts, in modern times.

Hi lolballz
LSH3-2015 has boats from IIA to Type XXI.
Ticking the box for historic u-boats dates in SH3commander I was able to receive a Type IXB on June 1st 1940.

The Type IX was in service well before September. Of the fourteen original boats sent out on August 19th, 1939, five of them were Type IXs - U-37,38,39,40 and 41.

Maybe later in the war. The first fourteen sent out to wait for the start of the war had strict orders to return home by the end of September, and they all followed those orders to the letter. They also had strict orders to go around the British Isles, and to avoid the Channel at all costs.
