i need guidance with sh4 mods

Hi guys..

I have been a member for a short while now, I have tried my luck with SH4 and SH5 and I'm back to SH4. I would still rank myself as a beginner.

My major problem is with mods. I cannot seem to get them going. I have tried to follow mod lists and so on but my game just doesn't work. I always use the JSGME tool.

Most recently I tried the TMOwtw 2.5, ALONE no other mods at all.. and it freezes on the loading screen and I get about 1000 error messages saying certain files could not be found.

SO, the current copy of SH4 I have is from steam, and so all of the download files are in the steam directory of the program files. Strangely, the version I have is 1.3, I've tried to patch it to 1.4 but it doesn't recognise that I have SH4 because it can't find it (I'm guessing because of steam).

Any help/tips are very appreciated. and if there is one big badass mod that encompasses the majority of the main fixes and graphic updates then please point me to it!

1.3 is your problem. In my opinion you need to install the U-Boat expansion that will bring you to 1.5 - the version most mods are made to run on. It has many improvements to the US Fleetboats in the PTO, so don't think it is only for U Boats.

I m not a fan of Steam however there are quite a few running SH4 1.5 on Steam.... you'll need to purchase the add-on.

If you can find a copy of SH4 Gold, that is 1.5 on a DVD.
