I have encountered a problem with the game, and it's ruining my enjoyment thereof.
When the visibility is unlimited and ships are detected by radar and less than 16 km away, I find it impossible to sail at better than TC 1. The ship will be spotted, then it will be detected by radar, and then be spotted again resetting the TC to 1. So when overtaking a convoy, I frequently have to sit for hours at TC 1. Any possible solutions? |

Move away outside visual range, and turn radar off. Don't the escorts detect your radar? Theirs should have longer range due to the height of their radar aerials.

I'm not using radar. I am detecting the radar transmissions of the escorts. Even though they must surely detect me, they don't come to investigate.

No experience with this. I've never played a complete patrol with radar detection gear.
I know SHCommander allows you to tweak TC values so that might be your best bet, but honestly I have never actually used that feature so sorry can't help you much there.

Try taking your radio operator out of his station. I'm guessing the radio shack needs to be manned to get RWR alerts. Of course, you'll not get radio messages either, so.
My other thought would be to install h.sie's and stiebler's patch kits. Stiebler's has a feature that allows you to force a time compression by keyboard command. You can select 1x-256x during the patch option setup. I know this overrides any time compression settings in SH3Commander because I've run into destroyers when I forgot I had the forced time compression on. You'd be surprised how fast you can be sunk rocking along at 128x! T |

Removing the radio operator fixed the problem. Thanks!
