Default SH 5 which purchase version is best for modding or overall?

I have not done sub work since SH3. I was thinking on getting SH5 and mod the crap out of it as I can see is needed. I am going to try a scraped version first to see if it is something I am going to put time into. If I do decide to get it is it better to get the CD, download from Uplay, or steam?

Modding this thing looks like a adventure!

Aktungbby back at you sir!

Okay i will try this again since i wrote this 1st post on a sleep deprived late evening. I read somewhere that the steam version has conflicts with some mods, is this still true and especially with WOS?

Thanks.

YES. Best to order the disk, I've played SH V, And look up Sober and Gap's more succinct comments (among many) on any steam issues; they're more knowledgeable than I on steam/mod issues with SHV.

In general, yes. But let's see what is going on with this problem reported by letterboy...

I have the Uplay version of the game, but regardless this may help. From what I understand, the game is patched through a game updater that have to be manually run from one of the game folders.

Go to the actual file that the game is installed:
(This is how it looks on my computer)
Ubisoft -> SilentHunter5 -> Support -> GameUpdater
If you see a file called "gu.exe" then run that, though you'll probably have to be online for it to work properly.

Hopefully this works for you.
