Default Convoy Routes in Mediterranean and other things

Silent Hunter III, with Grey Wolf Mod final version

It states that there are Mediterranean convoys between various places, but there is no map of convoys in the Mediterranean. Is there any actual Silent Hunter 3 maps out there for this? And is the map supplied for the Atlantic Ocean actually accurate with GWX?

Something I find is I never see any ships on the way to America so far in Operation Drumbeat and beyond. I try to follow the lanes in the map, but it is hard to get it accurately. Regardless, I have not seen anything.

So, I wonder, do you pros use any map specifically besides the default map? And again, are there any Mediterranean maps, or maps for the Far East if I ever decide doing that. (And finally, for the more Arctic convoys?)

---

Off-topic, but does GWX simulate the transportation of troops and supplies for major offences? For example, lets say Malta. Do the convoys actually go all the way from Britain to Malta? Or do they just appear somewhere else.

Another example, for eventual invasion of Occupied France. Does GWX or Silent Hunter 3 simulate all of the supplies and troops and equipment that had to be transported for this purpose?

Just how accurate did they go in GWX for realistic shipping and times. (One question I asked before, is for example do they have SS Athenia simulated? Do they have the various Ocean Liners that transported troops simulated completely accurately?

Something I see is the Chatham - Type Troop ship. Seen it twice now. Historically it was sunk in August 1942, and that date is coming up. If it was realistic, after this date it should stop appearing in convoys shouldnt it? Will it?

---

I read in the GWX manual that ocean liners are for neutral countries only. But how can this be? Is there a chance that I might run into the Queen Elizabeth or other such ocean liners during wartime? AS they transported troops

The convoy routes are definitely modeled in GWX. Be sure to look at the corner of the map to see dates at which routes where active or not. Operation Drumbeat (Correct me if I'm wrong) was not perse the start of convoys between Europe and America, rather it was an operation where Dönitz sent multiple type IX class U-boats to the American coast to sink unprotected merchant shipping.

Convoys between the US and Europe will start appearing soon after, also see:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...lantic_Convoys for convoy dates.

Yes, I use the Convoy map that is included with GWX - A lot. I never stick to patrol grids, I just cruise up and down a convoy route, usually sticking to where multiple convoys pass, or in approaches to ports I think are busy

Most large operations that include large ship movements are included in GWX, but I'm not sure in what extent.

Usually convoys show up on your map contacts. I don't remember exactly what I modified, but elsewhere in the forum there was a post that indicated how to increase the distance of map contacts you got. I believe that I increased it fourfold. Since then, I get convoy notifications that are well outside my range, but better to know about them and not intercept them than to think that you are alone in the Atlantic.
