Does radio traffic have any meaning outside of game bells and whistles? For example, if I get a report from BdU or another U-boat about a convoy at AF6553, is it a real sighting? If so, how do I read the four-digits to find it in area AF?

It's fluff. The game only uses the base two-digit grid. If you get a real report it should appear on the chart.

If you recieved the message from BdU (like was in stock SH3) "Convoy. Speed 6 knts. Course E. Grid AG56" - it's a real ingame convoy. But if you recieve a message about convoy from another U-boat - it's not ingame convoy. It's just a attempt to bring the realism in SH3.
And one more thing. If you get a report from BdU about a convoy at AF6553 - it's not ingame convoy too, because SH3 use 2 numbers into grid names. |
