Default Some quick conversion numbers

G'day guys,

I knocked up this quick table to help with distance/time calculations.

Yards to Nautical Miles Conversion Table

Quote:
Yards NM KM Time @55kts
20,000 9.8 18.28 10:41
19,000 9.4 17.37 10:15
18,000 8.9 16.45 9:41
17,000 8.4 15.54 9:09
16,000 7.9 14.63 8:37
15,000 7.4 13.71 8:04
14,000 6.9 12.80 7:32
13,000 6.4 11.88 7:00
12,000 5.9 10.97 6:27
11,000 5.4 10.05 5:55
10,000 4.9 9.14 5:23
9,000 4.4 8.22 4:50
8,000 3.9 7.31 4:18
7,000 3.4 6.40 3:46
6,000 2.9 5.48 3:13
5,000 2.5 4.57 2:41
4,000 1.9 3.65 2:09
3,000 1.5 2.74 1:36
2,000 1.0 1.82 1:04
1,000 0.5 0.91 0:32
Time (in decimal minutes) = (Distance/Speed)x60

Feel free to use, modify, make suggestions, etc. Obviously the last column is for Mk48 run-time - the most common torp I fire.

I can't do advanced trig - so all of the ww2 subsim equations (intercept course, torpedo lead calculation, etc.) make no sense to me...probably not as useful in DW anyway...

Cheers
Stew

A minor edit. Forum doesn't seem to allow multiple spaces to align things.

Useful! I like to use a rule of thumb conversion that yards or meters divided by 2000 gives approximate nautical miles. I also approximate yards = meters. I know these aren't terribly precise, but it does means calculations that I can just do in my head quickly.
