Default Wolves of Steel Installation Problems

Okay been trying to setup WoS but have been running into issues. Have a non-Steam version of the game patched to 1.2 Everything is fine up to the JGSME editor step. Enable 1.03 and then the 1.03 patch. I get an error about how there are a bunch of files that had already been edited by 1.03 (base) but that doesn't seem to be the critical error. Its the next step where I'm having problems.

When I try to use the TDW patcher I try to select my main SH5 folder and then I start getting 'Version Error' on several of the included mod files with the common description text 'Bytes read does not equal bytes expected by patch'. In the end instead of defining all the files that the TDW instructions say I should have showing in TDW, all I have are two files the kernel file and the sound file showing.

End result I don't think the TDW restore is working. The game will launch to the menu but will CTD upon trying to start a campaign. Any advice would be appreciated.

The official Thread is just a few mouse paces away and posting there might yield more results.

However, it seems to me that the game was either not properly patched (happened to me once too; the same error message) something else went buggy.
A reinstall helped in my case.

Only after a correct patching, will the files be the correct size as expected by the TDW patcher.

The first part is not an error it s a healthy sign. The pastch doesn t give error message does it? just an overwrite warning. The patch is supposed to overwrite files from main patch.

At least youre not far into install and a reinstall seem wise. I had the same problem once with the sh5.exe, but replaced it with an original I had stored from earlier. I have a backup of all the files that get modded. However those were from an earlier install that took the modding fine.

sounds like you have not patched to 1.2 yet.. you need to update the game. uplay doesn't do it automatically anymore. install the mods after doing that.

you need to run the 'gu.exe' updater located somewhere in the sh5 folder. that was the only method that worked for me.

if you're not running it on uplay there is a download available for the patch somewhere...

edit: i see you say it's on 1.2 already.. are you absolutely sure? i ask only because i had the exact same issue and error message, and that was the root cause.
