Hi guys, im starting to get interested in this game because im a bit tired of the european theatre, so i would like to know what are the equivalents to GWX NYGM from sh3 and WOS from sh5? Preferably the most realistic and historically accurate.
Thanks in advance. |

There is none. The GWX team was working on a GWX4 but that was dropped when SH5 came out.
The only full campaign system for U-boats in SH4 is Operation Monsun. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=134922

In that case you have Real Fleet Boat, Trigger Maru Overhauled, Fall Of The Rising Sun, and Game Fixes Only.

I would say Real Fleet Boat, especially when combined with the Run Silent Run Deep Mod which models historic shipping traffic unlike stock which is all over the place.

Of note. RSRD is also compatible with Trigger Maru and also stock SH4 1.5.
The other mods mentioned are also well done. |

RFB or TMO will give you different boat dynamics as well as adjust parameters of your boat and shipping. It is Run Silent Run Deep that will give you more historic traffic and battles. I have ran RFB and TMO both with their own version of RSRD and I enjoy both of them very much.
Do make sure you get the correct version of RSRD for each TMO and RFB and their associated patches unless you enjoy headaches an awful lot.

With my very limited experience playing RFB and TMO, RFB is probably the more realistic technically speaking but I've always understood that TMO was designed to make you behave more like a real sub commander would by way of what may be considered "unrealistic" tweaks.
Both mods are very good from what I've seen and it is probably a matter of taste. I lean more towards TMO. Unfortunately I have not tried the latest version of TMO.

TMO with RSRDC is the most developed by these times. Vickers interiors included 3D TDC and a hard challenge. With OTC is a hardcore game. RFB is a good option too.

I second TMO, RSRDC, OTC. (My current favorite combo.) Add on an easier AI to begin with (or stay with
![]() IMO arguably the most realistic as well. (That's perhaps a debate for a different thread, but TMO/RSRD (with easier AI) is about as realistic as a buggy computer game (er...simulation) designed over 60 years after the fact (for 2Gb XP computers) can get!) *********************************** RFB/RSRDC/ISP is great too (do yourself a favor and start sometime after 1943 in career mode. You can always go back to '42 later to get an appreciation of how bad it was!) When my hunting hasn't been going great with the other mods, I still like firing up GFO (with the stock original campaign) to shoot fish in a barrel. (Plus Webster added a bunch of great single missions.) When you feel like playing the European theater again (along with the west Atlantic, North Atlantic, Caribbean, Indian, Mediterranean, and even Pacific) in a Nazi sub, go for OM/OMEGU. Then there's WDAD for British subs, Subron 50 for running around in a Gato in the Atlantic; there's even a Japanese campaign, but I really digress... *********************************** Try 'em all and figure out your favorite. MultiSH4 makes it possible. Last edited by pdiddy; 03-18-15 at 08:06 AM. Reason: addition |
